Fibreworks® offers multiple border options, ranging from an understated serged finish that almost seamlessly blends into the rug to the bold look of a contrasting applied binding… and everything in between. Contact your Account Manager with any questions and special requests.
*Standard practice for borders showing 2” or larger on the face of the rug includes the addition of a pad placed underneath the binding. This technique is the extra step our craftsmen take to create a smoother border finish, enhancing the appearance of your rug. Excludes indoor/outdoor.
BORDERS
Serging
Border features coordinating yarn combination to complement the rug.
Hand Serging
Complete the handmade process with hand serging, a perfect blend of art and craftsmanship. Available on select collections.
Narrow
Standard border width shows approximately 5/8” on the face of the rug and has visible top stitching.
Medium
Standard border width shows approximately 1 ½” on the face of the rug and is available with visible top stitching or invisible stitching.
Wide*
Standard border width shows approximately 3 ½” on the face of the rug.
Leather*
Standard border width shows approximately 2 ½” inches on the face of the rug.
Jute Braid
Standard border width shows a minimum of 2 ½” on the face of the rug and can only be applied to Kochi, Zira, and Bombay Collections. Square corner is standard. Available on 2 or 4 sides.

Woven Tapestry*
Standard border widths show between 5” and 7” on the face of the rug.
FINISHES
Mitered Corners
Hand-sewn mitered corners are created by a combination of machine and hand-craftsmanship, resulting in a rug border with invisible stitching. Mitered corners meet at a 45° angle to look much like a picture frame.
Square Corners
Square corners are created by overlapping the binding on each end and sewing together. Available with visible top stitching or invisible stitching.
Natural Edge
A “no binding” finishing technique, giving the appearance of a natural, clean factory edge. Available in the following styles- Bungalow, Island Colours, Mayan Riviera, Northwest, Paradise Retreat, Tiki, Jute Chevron, Jute Nobby Dobby, and Jute Textured Boucle.
